RE: SNES Classic Edition
Honestly, the switch is fire right now. It's consistantly sold out.

but yeah, nintendo gonna nintendo and underproduce everything. I'm a bit worried about the second snes mini I ordered for my friend as the order still says I bought the temp listing, but the temp listing no longer exists on the site.

Good news, I was able to secure 2 consoles after all. I had to go a different route by pre-ordering from overseas. But they are American SNES Classic Edition Consoles, not the European nor the Asian ones. I will continue to monitor all retailers. I will grab more consoles if possible from now until launch.

Frankly, if you're going to buy from American retailers from now on, it would be near impossible unless you're monitoring them 24/7 or camp out at the store on Sept. 29.

Where did you get them both? I suppose I could try and persuade you with money to get one? Bouncy Not scalper prices but something fair?

I agree. I made a trip to one of my good GameStop stores where I have a manager hookup and they said almost all stores will get 12 or less for preorder. I'm #42 on their backup list. On another note this store will get rid of their PS4 kiosk soon and I asked for dibs on the TV mount. I hope I get it.

For now I've calmed down on the SNES Classic but I still think Nintendo should make sure to try and produce enough for demand. Emperium

That's cool that you calmed down, JC. And that you're not doing this: Bang Head

There was a reason why I got two consoles. One of them is reserved for you. I'll send you a private e-mail, and we'll discuss the pricing and such.

Amazon sold out immediately all to scalpers and Best Buy sold out every location in DFW in less than 9 minutes. Screw you Nintendo.

RE: SNES Classic Edition
Amazon didn't put any up today. They didn't even ship out ANY to pre-orders. Instead, amazon took all their SNES classics and put them on their fucking amazon treasure trucks going around the country right now.

I actually canceled my amazon prime membership because of this and their over a week late delivery of the new metroid game to me.

Also, JCE, try https://brickseek.com/

It seems target got some of the largest shipments. I saw people at best buys this morning 80 people deep.

Thanks for the info! Cannot seem to order from Target's website so I'll probably just cross my fingers that the one from Malaysia is undamaged. Nintendo has soured me. I am not going to support them by buying a Switch now. The only way they repair this is if the second shipment of SNES Classic's and the next NES Mini's are so over produced that it floods the market and it is super easy to get one. I want to see them 3 deep and 6 wide on a shelf! But they won't because of Japanese stubbornness.

I really don't think you can blame nintendo for shitty retailer practices and scumbag scalpers tbh. People set up bots to nab this shit. That retailers allow it is on them.

I blame Nintendo due to their low production and shipment totals. This is the cause for the effect of scalpers and crummy retailers.

RE: SNES Classic Edition
There is literally a finite amount of building resources. Part of the reason the switch is so scarce is because of the screen manufacturer is also contracted out to apple for their iphones. Unforunately, even if there isn't a scarcity (which for the snes classic, doesn't really seem to be the case) thanks to the dockers strike on the east coast 3 years ago that caused the massive amiibo shortage due to them just sitting in shipping containers for months, there's a target on nintendo's back for anyone looking to make a quick buck. You have to ask when you see youtubers and people on twitter claiming to buy 100 of them at once, is there really a scarcity? or are people just giant sacks of shit?

RE: SNES Classic Edition
If there is a material shortage then delay the release in order to have a larger amount of units for sale. There really isn't anything anyone can say that will change my opinion. Predictably Nintendo dropped the ball, again, and most of us fell for it, again. Last time this happens!

You know I almost think Nintendo is insulted that so many people want to play their old games. Or they are doing this on purpose to hype up retro for their next virtual console release on the Switch. What ever the reason they are dead to me.

Star Fox 2 is actually a lot of fun! I've played through it 3 times so far. Haven't beaten hard yet, but I found 11 pepper medals. just a few more and I'll unlocked the homing charge shot upgrade.

RE: SNES Classic Edition
And........it is already hack-able. Looks like my prayers were answered for being able to play any SNES/SFC game on my modern TV. Once they release a full public release build I'll likely give it a go assuming there isn't a high console brick probability. There are so many English translations and my own hacks that I want to play...

RE: SNES Classic Edition
Keep in mind, there's only about 300MB of free space on it. But yeah, the safe version of the hack should be out any day now. Interesting that the nes version just ran off rom files, but this one runs off the same format the Wii U VC had for snes files (being that they are zipped up in a secondary file from what I understand). When playing SNES games, you shouldn't see much in the way of lag, but playing any other emulators, you'll get the standard lag you'd normally see from them as they are just the regular versions of the emulators and not nintendo's super fancy neigh-perfect almost lagless emulation emulator.

Good to know about the lag. I heard about the 300MB storage space and that will be more than enough for me. I'll really only do RPGs, fighting games, and anything with Mario in it. Grin I doubt I'd have more than 40~50 games on there total. Looking forward to the safe version of that hack! Now if only Sega would do this sort of mini retro console thing with an HDMI output and awesome emulation quality we'd be set!

Sweet. Let me know if it's safe after you do it.

I do know some games won't completely work and it comes down to a couple of the high res modes like in Seiken Densetsu 3 for example. Small price to pay I suppose.

bad news.

Other than that, the mod was SUUUUUPER easy to do. It even left my saves already on the system completely in tact.

Wow that's nuts about the high res mode. Good news about the patching process. :)
