It is blasphemy that there might not be a physical western release. The artwork is absolutely stunning with this game and it would be a damn shame to not have it for display. I'd likely get an acrylic case for it for display on my game shelves once I build them.

If we don't get a physical, western release, it shows that the majority of people in the west don't care about physical copies, which I already know about since the 1990s. That's why you would see people throwing away their games boxes and stuff as soon as they open the game here in the west. Either that or they lose it in a pile of junk somewhere in the house.

As you know, the Japanese always gets the best artwork and releases. Because they know that a lot of people treasure and collect video games over there. There are a ton of game stores in Japan that cater toward collectible games and memorabilia. The culture over there is a world of difference.

Back to my point, I'll do the same by purchasing the Japanese physical copy if there won't be a physical, western release. I will follow up by purchasing a digital copy just to play.

I'm half tempted to cancel my Ys Origin preorder and get this one instead.

Do you know if that Ys Origin version is in English language and not just English subtitles?

So are you saying that what I pre-ordered isn't the same as the limited run games version?

No, that's not the same version. What you're looking at is the Japanese version packaged into a Chinese copy to be resold in the other Asian countries.

So after looking through Play-Asia some more, I noticed that games that have English will say: Language - English [scroll to the bottom]. Otherwise, it'll just say, "Subtitles - English, Chinese, Korean, etc." Take a look at Final Fantasy XV here: http://www.play-asia.com/final-fantasy-x.../13/709y1p and The Last of Us Remastered: http://www.play-asia.com/the-last-of-us-.../13/707nnx Notice that they both have Language - English. When you look at Ys Origin, it does not, only the subtitles. That means the game is in the original Japanese.

Do you want to preorder the Limited Run Edition? The preorder is over, but I can probably still talk to them to get a copy. It's still early enough to do so.

If you can get one from them please do, maybe you're helping a friend out who made this mistake. I'm going to cancel this one on play Asia and probably get a soundtrack instead. I assumed it was actually multi-language. Sad

Thanks Phll.

You're welcome, JC. I sent you a private e-mail. They should let me buy another copy as long as I ask nicely. Hehe. Grin

I pulled up another game, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. It says, "Multi-Language" as well. But the only language it has is English. Then you got like a ton of language subtitles. Check it out here: http://www.play-asia.com/tom-clancys-rai.../13/708vol

Great. Grin I suppose I need to only use Play Asia for collecting purposes and not so much for playing purposes then. I was stoked thinking my Ys Origin was going to be the same. Appreciate the heads up here. On the positive side I cannot wait to get a soundtrack!

The cancel order button is not there so I have to email their customer service. I need this order cancelled before they ship it...

RE: [PS4/PS Vita/Steam] Secret of Mana Remake
Holy shit! I was watching some of the gameplay video for the Mana remake. They are using the redone version of the soundtrack from the Secret of Mana Genesis album release a few years back. I was listening to them side by side and it's 100% the same tracks from this album. Basically they got hiroki kikuta to rescore the game using uncompressed samples he used originally before having to compress everything for the snes. It's a reeeeeally good album if you haven't heard it. What makes it even better is now I get all the tracks they didn't do to for the album!

I was pretty sure about getting this game for steam when it comes out, but now I'm kind of troubled about the platform. I kind of want to get it for steam, but I could also get it for PS4.

I am THRILLED because I love what Kikuta did with the Genesis album. That dude is a genius and I wish he had more games composed under his belt. His work on Seiken Densetsu 2 / Secret of Mana was legendary. Some of those instrument samples sounded better than some later PSX samples. I need to get the Genesis album so I can support the artist. :)

Oh, and getting the entire soundtrack done that way will be like my brithday and xmas all rolled in to one. I LOVE the SD2/SOM soundtrack.

Interesting article. I just want the Seiken collection translated honestly. But if a remake is all we officially get then so be it.
